Due to the increasing spread of the Corona virus, we would like to inform you here about the current effects on delivery by Deutsche Post DHL.
So far there are no significant restrictions on our services in Germany.
Parcel shipments to China, Hong Kong and Macau (ie DHL Paket International, Päckchen International and Warenpost International) cannot be accepted until further notice due to problems with transport, customs clearance and / or delivery in the destination area. Mail items (ie sending documents via letter, single tariff, letter at a kilo tariff, etc.) are not affected.
All other international shipments may experience delayed delivery times due to the current situation. These can be caused by changes in the transport process (e.g. border controls), in international transport (e.g. the elimination of flight connections previously used for transport) and also in the delivery to the destination country (e.g. protection regulations and quarantine measures).
At Deutsche Post DHL, we want to help slow the spread of the virus and ensure that letters and parcels are transported and delivered across the board. To this end, we take measures continuously and in accordance with the recommendations of the responsible authorities (especially the Robert Koch Institute) to minimize the risk of infection for your customers and our employees.
Specifically, we adapt our internal processes depending on the respective risk situation.
This primarily concerns the acceptance and delivery of shipments. For example , we currently dispense with the recipient's signature when handing over parcels and registered handovers . Instead, our deliverers document the successful delivery with their own signature instead of the recipient. If the recipient does not agree, the items in the branch will be notified or returned to the sender. In this way we reduce personal contact between the recipients and our delivery agents and avoid the possible transmission of viruses via hand scanners and pens.
The Robert Koch Institute provides information on current developments in the corona virus in Germany.

Corona Update: Contactless package delivery from today
The corona virus leads to ever sharper cuts in our everyday life. We are all asked to avoid human contact as much as possible so that the new virus does not spread any further. We are fulfilling this responsibility and from today on we will only deliver packages without contact.
The deliverer rings the doorbell and goes at least two meters away. If the recipient opens, the deliverer informs him of the contactless delivery and places the parcel. The deliverer enters the letters "AO" and the location in his MDE device as the recipient name and then signs with his own abbreviation. The recipient's signature is dispensed with.
If the deliverer does not find the recipient, the parcel will be returned to the sender. Small, flat parcels that fit in the mailbox are an exception; they can be deposited there. If the recipient refuses to accept it because of the corona virus, the package will be labeled and returned to the sender.
We constantly check our protective measures and adapt them to the current situation.
Due to the dynamic development, a wide variety of changes can occur in the short term. DPD provides up-to-date and up-to-date information on its own homepage dpd. com / coronavirus .
Thank you for your understanding and hope to be able to return to your usual delivery routine as soon as possible. If you have any further questions on this topic, you can also contact your usual DPD contact person.
